EQUIPMENT CONDITION
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
GENERAL SAFETY CONDITIONS
Personnel must stand clear during lifting operation.
All personnel must stand clear during lifting operations. A shifting
load may cause injury to personnel.
a. Removal
1.
Remove ten screws (7) and lockwashers (6) from fifth wheel (3) and base support (5). Discard
lockwashers (6).
NOTE
Ensure washers are between head of screws and fifth wheel, and
chain links and nuts.
2.
Attach utility chain on fifth wheel (3) with two screws (4), four washers (1), and two nuts (2).
NOTE
Assistant will help with step 3.
3.
Attach lifting device to chain, and remove fifth wheel (3) from base support (5).
4.
Remove lifting device from chain.
5.
Remove two nuts (2), four washers (1), two screws (4). and utility chain from fifth wheel (3).
b. Installation
1.
Install utility chain on fifth wheel (3) with two screws (4), four washers (1), and two nuts (2).
NOTE
Assistant will help with step 2.
2.
Using lifting device attached to chain, raise fifth wheel (3) and lower onto base support (5). Align
fifth wheel (3) with base support (5) and install with ten new lockwashers (6) and screws (7).
Tighten screws (7) 160-170 lb-ft (217-231 N•m).
3.
Remove lifting device from utility chain, two nuts (2), four washers (1), two screws (4), and utility
chain from fifth wheel (3).
