4-61. FAN DRIVE CLUTCH (M939/A1) MAINTENANCE (Contd)

1.

Lightly coat bore (4) of clutch housing (3) with GAA grease.

2.

Place clutch housing (3) on arbor press supported by two wood blocks. Piston bore (2) must be

facing up.

3.

Using mandrel, install new bearing (5) in clutch housing (3).

4.

Using mandrel, install bearing spacer (1) in clutch housing (3). Ensure holes in spacer (1) align with

holes in clutch housing (3). If holes are not aligned, remove bearing spacer (1) and install again.

5.

Using arbor press and mandrel, install spacer (7) and new bearing (6) into clutch housing (3).

6.

Remove clutch housing (3) from arbor press and place on workbench with piston bore (2) side

facing up.
