Install new seal ring (1) on wormshaft (2).

Lightly coat wormshaft (2) with GM grease and install wormshaft (2) with end opposite seal

ring (1) installed first into rack piston (3).

Position two ball bearing return guides (4) in rack piston (3).

NOTE

Ensure ball bearing return guides stay in place while installing

ball bearings.

Drop twenty-seven ball bearings (5) through holes in ball bearing return guides (4) as worm shaft (2)

is rotated in each direction.

Secure two ball bearing return guides (4) on rack piston (3) with retaining clip (6), two new locktabs (7),

and screws (8). Tighten screws (8) 14-17 lb-ft (18-23 N•m) and bend locktabs (7) against flats on heads

of screws (8).
