Press new friction washer (9) and new lockwasher (11) into slot on new retainer (4).

Press three new nylon balls (10) into indentations on retainer (4).

Aligning timing marks (1) and (2), position new seal (7) and pitman arm (3) on output shaft (8).

Install retainer (4) into output shaft (8) until drag of friction washer (9) is felt.

Align long tabs (5) to notches in pitman arm (3) and bend tabs (5) in notches. Back out

retainer (4) up to 1/2 turn as necessary for tabs (5) alignment.

Tighten retainer (4) 225 lb-ft (305 N•m).

Bend two short tabs (6) into notches on retainer (4). Tighten retainer (4) if necessary to align tabs (6)

with notches of retainer (4).
