EQUIPMENT CONDITION
Steering gear removed (para. 4-117).
Steering gear drained (para. LO 9-2320-272-12).
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Keep fire extinguisher nearby when using
drycleaning solvent.
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do
not use near open flame.
Compressed air source will not exceed 30 psi
(207 kPa).
Eyeshields must be worn when cleaning with
compressed air.
1.
Position steering gear (3) in vise with sector shaft (2) in horizontal position.
2.
Remove all paint or corrosion and position serrated end of sector shaft (2) with alignment mark (1) up.
Adjust position of mark (1) by turning wormshaft (4).
