Install clutch (20) and thrust washer (19) on drum shaft (16). Ensure clutch (20) engages drum (9).

Install tie rod (21) into gearcase (27) as far as it will go.

Ensuring that clutch shifter fork (22) engages in slot of clutch (20), install end frame (18) on drum

shaft (16) with tie rod nut (23) on tie rod (21). Do not tighten nut (23).

Position rear channel (30) on winch (31) and install with four new lockwashers (28) and screws (29).

Do not tighten screws (29).

Position top channel (24) on winch (31) and install with four new lockwashers (25) and screws (26).

Do not tighten screws (26).

Mount dial indicator on gearcase (27) and measure end play of drum shaft (16).

7.

Using two nuts (23) on tie rod (21), adjust drum shaft (16) end play to 0.005-0.015 in. (0.127-0.381 mm).

8.

When end play of drum shaft (16) is correct, tighten tie rod nuts (23) and screws (29) and (26).
