(36) Check the end clearance of the output shaft by moving the shaft in and out with installer

tool (2P8260). The end clearance must be between 0.005 and 0.010 in. (0.13 and 0.25 mm).

If rear bearing retainer assembly (fig.

7-1 56) is removed the rear clutch plates

will drop out of position, When shims

are to be removed or added to the re-

tainer assembly, remove two of the bolts

from the retainer assembly ( 180° apart).

Install two 7/16 in. -14 NC threaded rods

four inches long in their place. Turn

the threaded rods by hand until they

make contact with the clutch hub as-

sembly in position while the retainer

assembly is removed for shim adjustment.
