(3) place the case in a press with

the rear side of the case facing up.

CAUTIO N

The front side of the case must be properly

supported in the area of the intermediate

shaft to prevent overstressing the case.

(4) Press the intermediate shaft from the gear and bearing assembly (fig. 8-32). Remove the

gear and rear bearing cone from the case.
