WARNING
Electrolyte and battery corrosion can cause injury to you. Wear safety goggles and gloves. If
electrolyte or battery corrosion contacts the eyes, skin, or clothing, flush with large amounts of
cold water and see a doctor immediately.
WARNING
Battery is heavy and can cause back injury if handled improperly. Be sure to have helper assist
to remove battery. Battery weighs about 75 lb (34 kg).
CAUTION
Be careful. Do not hit side of carrier. You could crack the case. Set battery down gently on a
board.

Remove batteries (1) from battery box (2). Lift battery by carrying handles built into each battery.
CLEANING
CLEAN AND INSPECT
WARNING
Battery posts and cables touched by metal objects can short circuit and burn you. Do not wear
jewelry, necklaces, or watches when working on the electrical system. Keep tools away from
posts, wires, and terminals.

Clean battery with nonmetallic brush dipped in mixture of sodium bicarbonate and water. After foaming stops, flush
battery with clean water. Dry with clean cloth.

Clean retainers and parts by soaking in mixture of sodium bicarbonate and water. Dry parts and apply epoxy coating.
