0752 00
1.
Remove 14 protective plugs (17) from threaded inserts (18) in lower hull and on front lower slope of hull.
2.
Clean each insert and make sure the screws will thread into each insert before placing the mine armor plate under
the hull. Use tap (WP 0926 00, Item 57.2) to clean out the debris left in the 11 inserts (18) for the mine armor plate.
Use tap (WP 0926 00, Item 57.1) to clean out the debris left in the three inserts (18) for the cover armor plate. If any
insert is damaged, notify direct support maintenance. Do not install mine armor plate until all the inserts are in good
working order.
WARNING
Adhesive, primer, sealant compounds, and isopropyl alcohol are toxic and flammable. These
compounds are toxic to eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Continued exposure can make you
dizzy and irritate your eyes and throat.
Always use in well ventilated areas, away from heat, sparks, and flames. Do not breathe fumes.
Do not allow into contact with skin and eyes. Use goggles or face shield and protective gloves.
3.
Apply adhesive to eight spacers (3).
NOTE
There are eight spacers (3) required for the mine armor plate to go between it and the lower
hull, three spacers (16) will be slipped into place along the front of the armor plate to the sloping
hull area after the armor plate is in place. The eight screws (5) should be installed but not
torqued to allow enough movement of the mine armor plate to make sure the last three screws
(14) can be installed. Tighten the screws enough to hold the armor plate in place until you get
all 11 screws installed, then torque the screws as specified in the following steps.
4.
Install eight spacers (3) over the eight holes on top of the mine armor plate that will fit up to the lower hull.
WARNING
Personnel can be killed or injured by a falling 800 lb (363 kg) mine armor plate. Use a forklift
or mechanical lifting device capable of lifting 800 lb (363 kg) to position hull mine armor
plate for assembly.
NOTE
After mine armor plate is positioned, support it with jacks, blocking, or other such devices to
prevent armor plate movement during assembly. Verify that armor plate is properly supported
before reaching under to install hardened washers and screws. Ensure enough screws are
installed to hold plate to hull before placing body under armor plate to complete assembly.
