INSTALL/REMOVE MINE ARMOR KIT (M113A3 ONLY) — Continued

Align and position the mine armor plate (2) using a forklift or hydraulic jacks. If using a forklift, move the armor

plate into place. Watch the mine armor plate as it moves under the hull. The shocks can be damaged if the mine armor

plate makes contact, so go slow and smooth.

Raise the mine armor plate up to the lower hull. Place four trestles or hydraulics jacks under the mine armor plate to

provide support to prevent anyone under it from being hurt.

7.

Install eight screws (5) and hardened washers (4), tighten, but do not torque screws until all eight screws (5) and three

screws (14) are installed.

8.

Position three spacers between the front sloping hull and mine armor plate. Install three screws (14) and hardened

washers (15) in mine armor plate.

9.

Tighten all 11 screws (5) and (14).

10. TORQUE THREE SCREWS (14) TO 54-59 LB-FT (73-80 N·M). Use torque wrench.

11. TORQUE EIGHT SCREWS (5) TO 107-118 LB-FT (145-160 N·M). Use torque wrench.
