10-20 SHOCK ABSORBER BEARINGS

This task covers:

Bearing remover and replacer (item 48, App

a. Removal

1 Install bearing remover and replacer tool in shock absorber eye (1) of shock absorber (2).

2 Turn tool clockwise to remove bearing (3). Bearing will be pulled into collar (4) of tool. Discard bearing.

b. Installation

Use fine-mill file stone to remove stake marks and burrs from inner surface of shock absorber eye (1).

Start new bearing (2) into eye (1) of shock absorber (3) by hand.

Insert bearing remover and replacer through bearing (2).

Turn nut (5) clockwise to install bearing (2).

Stake bearing (2) at six equally spaced points on both sides.
