When timing is rIgHt, ·your live ammo should stand straight up between the
vanes of the ammo drum on your M28A

armament subsystem.
±f you used dummy ammo (in good

condition) to ti²e the drum, you'll
almost certainly have to do some fine
tuning For tHe live ammo.
Eyeball the cartridges. ±f the bottom
ones stand straight b³tw³en the vanes
of the drum, timing should be right.
Torque Lim±teR
Voluntarily check the SET´±NG of
the drumµs torque limiter .
.. even iF you
check³d it after the last mission. ¶ig
3-8, TM 9¸1090-203¹12º shows you
hOw. ±f the settingµs not right, the
torque limiter can stick, freeze or com³
loose during »firing .
.. and scrub the
mission.

Keep the ammo dRUms, esp³cjally the
40¹MM drum, cl³ar of water when you
wash the aircraft.
Water rusts the drive motor shaft on
the 40-MM drum. ¼ere½s

Àemove the top cover over the shaft
and try to turn the shaft with your
fingers. No go? Lube the shaFt and
bearin

witH CLP and let it set a Áw
minutes. ±f tha doesnµt worÃ, replace

the shaft.
