Pinch hitters don't
lways come through with the
big hit. This is reaLLy true if you use "pinch-hit±
screws on the battery bus conductor.
Using substitute screws²Like those Fr tHe exhaust
duct²can cause a battery compartment ³re. That's
because tHose screws are
3/4´
to 1-in longer than tHe
speci³ed screws.
Those Longer screws bottom out on the terminal
board beFre they tighten the conductor. This Jets the
conductor loosen during operation.
A
Loose conductor causes arcing between the con´
ductor and washers. The tank generator reads the
arcing as a need Fr more output, increasing amperage
and arcing.
It doesn't take Jong Fr the battery compartment
contents to get hot enough to burn.
Use the right screws²NSN
