Dear Half-Mast,
I've found a solution to the prob±
lem of broken
metal clips that
plagues the fuel cover retainers on
M1 tanks. The metal clip is not in
the supply system.
Drill
a
hole
through the
fuel
L:

cover
retainer
and
locking pin
using a 13²64³in drill bit. Attach a
cotter pin´ NSN 5315-00³013³7258µ
to a piece of smalL chain and fasten
the chain to an S³hookµ NSN 4030³

through the retainer and locking
pin and the fuel cover is secure·

UsE HaRdEned Yoke WashERs
A loose yoke is no joke. If the yokes
Fr the ML 's oil cooler drive gearbox
work their way loose, they Cause lots
of damage to the sha± componeNts.
To stop the yokes ²om working loose
²om the angle dr³ve gearBox, the head-
shed has Come up wi´h washers aNd cap
screws that let you torque the yoke
screws tight.
ReplaCe the washers and cap screws
oN both ´he rightµ aNd le±µside yokes
with improved washers, ¶S· 5310¸00µ
987µ1294¹ and cap screws, ¶S¶ 5305¸
01µ010µ2362.
ºeFre installing the cap screws, coat
their threads with sealing compound,

Torque the screws to 30µ40 lBµ½. That
will make loose yokes a memory¾
