ruddy, dirty, corroded contacts in the antenna base will put a radio on the fritz.
You repairmen need to eyeball the horseshoe contact when your Favorite
radioman comes in with a problem. If it's Broken, replace it With NSN

If the screws are loose, tighten 'em.

If the contacts are corroded, shine
'em up with a pencil eraser.

must Be threaded into the antenna ele-
ment to The right depth. Use a load
tightening tool, NSN

´hile you're right there, take a
closer look Between the element and the
MX-6707
matcµi¶g unit.

you see red,
it's the 0·ring. ²his Means The spring
contact is ¶oT touching.

the antenna's not under the clip,
it slips out and gets broken o¹ when
it hits something liKe a tree. ºr it can
hit an overhead power line and jolt you
or your passenger(s).

Äoisture gets in and causes corRos³on.
²hen you've got to have your radiacÅ
meter repa³red.
