NOTE
Remove windows (16 and 25) only if neces-
sary for replacement.
Remove window (16) by tapping on side facing in-
terior of M42 periscope.
Remove all fragments of glass and scrape off all
adhesive material. Avoid enlarging opening.
Remove 12 machine screws (1 7), 12 Iockwashers
(18), and cover assembly (19). Discard lockw-
ashers.
Remove two headless straight pins (20) only if
damaged.
Remove three machine screws (21), three lock-
washers (22), retaining ring (23), and seal (24).
Discard lockwashers.
Remove window (25) by tapping side facing interior
of M42 periscope.
Remove all fragments of glass and scrape off all
adhesive material. Avoid enlarging opening.

b. Repair
1 Remove corrosion, grease, and dirt from all parts.
Refer to TM 9-254 for cleaning instructions.
2 Visually inspect for missing or damaged parts.
3 Repair or replace parts in accordance with author-
ized parts listed in appendix D.
