TM 9-2320-272-24-2
1.
2.
3.
Connect engine to dynamometer.
Start and run engine until oil temperature is 180°F (124°C).
Stop engine, inspect oil level, and check for leaks (TM 9-2320-272-10).
NOTE
Coolant should not exceed 195°F (90°C) or drop below 175°F
(79°C) during engine load operation.
4.
Start and run engine at 1,575 rpm, 125 hp, for 15 minutes.
5.
Run engine at 2,100 r-pm, 188 hp, for 15 minutes.
6.
Run engine at 2,100 rpm, 213 hp, for 15 minutes.
7.
Run engine at 2,100 rpm, 225 hp, for 15 minutes.
8.
Run engine at 2,100 rpm, 240 hp, for 15 minutes.
9.
Remove engine load and idle until temperature drops.
10.
Stop engine, inspect oil level, and check for leaks (refer to TM 9-2320-272-10).
11.
Disconnect engine from dynamometer.
NOTE
If engine dynamometer is available, follow manufacturer’s
instructions. Ensure dynamometer used is torque-rated at
685 lb-ft (929 N•m). If a dynamometer is not available, proceed to
task c. of this paragraph.
WARNING
Ensure engine compartment is clear of tools and other materials
before starting engine. Failure to do so may cause injury to
personnel.
NOTE
Steps 1 through 6 apply to M939A2 only; steps 7 through 13 apply
to M939fAl only.
1.
Inspect engine coolant and oil levels (TM 9-2320-272-10).
2.
Pull emergency stop control (4) out all the way to prevent engine from starting while priming.
CAUTION
• Do not operate M939A2 series vehicle starters continuously
for more than 30 seconds at a time. Wait two minutes between
periods of starter operation. Failure to do so may cause damage
to equipment.
• If oil pressure drops below 10 psi (68 kPa) or rises sharply
above 30 psi (207 kPa), stop engine and correct as required.
3.
Crank engine until oil pressure registers on oil pressure gauge (3).
4.
Push emergency stop control (4) in all the way.
5.
Start and run engine at 1,000-2,000 rpm as indicated on tachometer (1) for 30 minutes, observing
oil pressure (3) and water temperature (2) gauges for proper ranges (TM 9-2320-272-10).
6.
Inspect engine for leaks (TM 9-2320-272-10).
