An infinity ( ) reading indicates HIGH resistance.

If a LOW resistance is noted, then stator is

grounded.

Replace alternator.

Perform stator phase resistance test as follows:

NOTE

To perform this test, use an ohmmeter capable of reading 1/1000 of an ohm (m ).

Connect ohmmeter probes across stator terminals 1 & 2, 1 & 3 and 2 & 3.

If the resistance

reading across any of the three sets of terminals (phases) is greater or smaller than

0.017-0.021 ohms, then the stator is defective and the alternator must be replaced.
