All maintenance should be performed with:
•
Trailer parking brake engaged;
•
Rear stabilizer extended as required;
•
Prime mover in neutral with parking brake engaged, if attached; and
•
Prime mover engine stopped, if attached.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
Improper cleaning methods and the use of unauthorized cleaning liquids or solvents can
injure personnel and damage equipment. Failure to comply may result in death or injury to
personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of an injury.
General.
Cleaning instructions will be the same for the majority of parts and components that make up the trailer. The following
applies to all cleaning operations:
•
Clean all parts before inspection, after repair, and before assembly.
•
Keep hands free of grease, which can collect dust, dirt, and grit.
•
After cleaning, cover or wrap all parts to protect them from dust and dirt. Parts that are subject to rust should
be lightly oiled.
Steam Cleaning.
WARNING
Avoid contact with live steam, which can burn skin, cause blindness, and cause other serious
injury. Be sure to wear protective apron, gloves, and safety goggles around live steam. Failure
to comply may result in death or injury to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of
an injury.
Before steam cleaning trailer, protect all electrical components that could be damaged by steam
or moisture.
Place disassembled parts in a suitable container to steam-clean. Parts that are subject to rust should be dried and
lightly oiled after cleaning.
