CONDITION/INDICATION
Are air lines and fittings free of crimps?
DECISION
LINES OK - Go to (Step 2 - Do brake chamber rods extend when air is cut off from trailer air system?).
LINES DAMAGED - Replace faulty air lines and/or fittings (WP
0067). Go to (Step 6 - Does suspect parking brake(s)
apply correctly?) to verify problem is solved.
STEP 2
Do brake chamber rods extend when air is cut off from trailer air system?
NOTE
This test covers left rear brake chamber, but it can be used to test operation of all
trailer brake chambers.
Some resistance will be felt from spring when pulling chamber rod out of brake
chamber.
1.
Drain air from trailer air system. Refer to TM 9-2330-342-10 (WP
0190).
2.
Cage brake chamber. Refer to TM 9-2330-342-10 (WP
0190).
3.
Remove two cotter pins, pins, and rod clevis from slack adjuster. Discard cotter pins.

4.
Rotate slack adjuster away from clevis.
5.
Uncage brake chamber. Refer to TM 9-2330-342-10 (WP
0190).
6.
Pull brake chamber rod out of chamber by hand.
