CONDITION/INDICATION
Does brake relay valve supply 60 ± 5 psi (414 ± 34 kPa) to brake chambers?
DECISION
Yes - Go to (Step 9 - Are brake components free of damage?).
No - Replace relay valve (WP
0076). Go to (Step 10 - Is braking distance correct in response to vehicle?) to verify
problem is solved.
STEP 9
Are brake components free of damage?
1.
Pull out trailer charge valve in vehicle. Refer to vehicle Operator's manual (WP
0190).
2.
Have assistant turn engine start switch to OFF. Refer to vehicle Operator's manual (WP
0190).
3.
Remove brake drum (WP
0092).

4.
Visually inspect brake shoes, drum and other brake components for excessive wear, broken brake shoe
springs, loose shoes, grooved drums, and other damage that will prevent brakes from applying.
CONDITION/INDICATION
Are brake components free of damage?
DECISION
Components OK - Go to (Step 10 - Is braking distance correct in response to vehicle?) to verify problem is solved.
Components Damaged - Replace damaged component(s) (WP
0072). Go to (Step 10 - Is braking distance correct
in response to vehicle?) to verify problem is solved.
STEP 10
Is braking distance correct in response to vehicle?
1.
Install brake drum (WP
0092).
2.
Release brake pedal. Refer to vehicle Operator's manual (WP
0190).
3.
Pull out trailer charge valve in vehicle. Refer to vehicle Operator's manual (WP
0190).
4.
Have assistant turn engine start switch to OFF. Refer to vehicle Operator's manual (WP
0190).
5.
If connected, disconnect TK pressure transducer (blue stripe) from air hose 2545.
6.
If disconnected, connect air hose 2545 to right front brake chamber.
7.
Ensure vehicle is returned to normal operating condition.
8.
If disconnected, connect control rod to axle (WP
0080).
9.
Adjust load sensing valve (WP
0080).
10.
Have assistant turn engine start switch to ON. Refer to vehicle Operator's manual (WP
0190).
11.
Push in trailer charge valve in vehicle. Refer to vehicle Operator's manual (WP
0190).
