CONDITION/INDICATION

Do brake chamber rods extend when air is cut off from trailer air system?

DECISION

ROD SMOOTH - Go to (Step 3 - Are slack adjusters adjusted and free of damage?).

ROD STICKS - Replace brake chamber (WP

0071). Go to (Step 6 - Does suspect parking brake(s) apply

correctly?) to verify problem is solved.

STEP 3

Are slack adjusters adjusted and free of damage?

1.

Cage brake chamber. Refer to TM 9-2330-342-10 (WP

0190).

2.

Rotate slack adjuster to rod clevis.

Install rod clevis, two pins, and cotter pins on slack adjuster.

4.

Uncage brake chamber. Refer to TM 9-2330-342-10 (WP

0190).

5.

Inspect slack adjusters for damage or out of adjustment.

CONDITION/INDICATION

Are slack adjusters adjusted and free of damage?

DECISION

NOT DAMAGED - Go to (Step 5 - Are brake components free from damage?).

DAMAGED - Go to (Step 4 - Can brakes be adjusted?).
