Dry cleaning solvent (SD2) is toxic
and flammable. Wear protective gog -
gles and gloves and use only in well-
ventilated areas .
c. Most armament parts received from storage
are coated with rust-preventive compound. Clean
these parts thoroughly with shop rags or a brush
that is saturated with dry cleaning solvent (SD2)
(item 10, appx C). Then lubricate the parts as
specified, refer to page 2-8.

Follow all precautions to tag DD For m
1397 (Processing and Deprocessing Recor d
for Shipment, Storage, and Issue of Vehicl e
and Spare Engines). This tag is in the driver’s
compartment attached to the steering bar, shift
lever, or MASTER switch, For vehicles from
administrative storage, check DA forms in vehicle
log book to determine vehicle readiness. Fill fuel
cell and radiators and lubricate vehicle as
specified, refer to page 2-8.

Engine, transmission, and fina l
drives will not be drained unless ex-
pected temperatures require differen t
viscosity oil. New engines an d
transmissions contain CLP (item 5 ,
appx C). This oil will be used until
the next regularly scheduled oi l
change. General purpose lubricatin g
oil (item 14, appx C) may be adde d
to CLP (item 5, appx C) to maintai n
proper oil level .
