Traversing System (7).
The traversing system consists of a two-way hydraulic motor ,
hydraulically released brake, and planetary gear drive unit. The direction and speed of traversin g
is controlled by the winch operator using a foot pedal. When operating the tow winch, the leve l
wind traversing system automatically traverses the cab so that the wire rope winds evenly o n
the winch drum. The winch operator can override the level wind traversing system by using th e
foot pedal .
