Cleaning the Vehicle
WARNING
•
Do not use mineral spirits or paint thinner to clean the howitzer. These cleaning solvents are
highly toxic and combustible. Prolonged breathing can cause dizziness, nausea, and even
death.

Solvents can burn easily, can give off harmful vapors, and are harmful to skin and clothing. To
avoidinjuryordeath,keepawayfromopenfireanduseinwell-ventilatedarea.Ifsolventgetson
skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap and water.
NOTE
This section may provide material which is duplicated in TM 9--2350--311--20--1 (howitzer hull man-
ual). However, this duplication is limited only to activities which require crew and maintenance me-
chanic joint effort.
Armamentpartsarecoatedwithrust-preventivecompoundwhenreceivedfromstorage.Cleanthesepartsthoroughlywith
rags or a brush saturated with cleaning compound (item 9.1, Appx D). After complete removal of the rust-preventive com-
pound, lubricate as specified in the PMCS chart (para 2--9) and TM 9--2350--311--10. Component parts of each weapon
should be cleaned separately where practicable. Component parts are interchangeable, however, the parts originally as-
sembled work best together. Whenever possible, the vehicle crew will help to perform these services.

Checking Unpacked Equipment
a. Inspect the equipment for damage incurred during shipment. If the equipment has been damaged, report the damage
on SF 364, Report of Discrepancy.
b. Check the equipment against the packing slip to see if the shipment is complete. Report all discrepancies in accor-
dance with the instruction of DA PAM 750--8 or DA PAM 738--751 as applicable.

Check to see whether the equipment has been modified.
d. Inspect the cab as outlined in the Service Upon Receipt Checklist.
