Mount and howitzer with trunnion bracket removed

Removal

Disengage tabs of key washer (1) from slot of round nut (2).

Remove round nut (2), key washer (1), spacer (3), and flat washer (4). Discard key washer.

Using a bearing puller, remove roller bearing (5), flat washer (6), and spacer (7).

Repeat steps 1 through 3 for second roller bearing (5).

Inspection

For proper cleaning and inspection procedures for roller bearings (5), refer to TM 9-214.

Installation

Pack roller bearing (5) with grease.

Install spacer (7), flat washer (6), roller bearing (5), flat washer (4), and spacer (3).

Install new key washer (1) and round nut (2). Bend tabs of key washer to secure round nut.

Lubricate roller bearing (5) until grease appears through sides of roller bearing.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 for second roller bearing (5).
