a. Using slip-joint pliers, install

retaining ring (1) with sharp edge out.

a. Position pump (5) in transmission

housing (6). Rotate gear (7) through

sump opening (8) to allow meshing

of teeth with those of spur gear (9).

b. Install four washers (10) and

screws (11).

USING 1/2-lNCH DRIVE TORQUE

49. INSTALL THREE NEW PREFORMED

PACKINGS (2), (3), AND (4).

a. Coat three new preformed pack-

ings (2), (3), and (4) with trans-

mission oil and install.

WRENCH, TORQUE FOUR SCREWS (11)

TO 35-40 ft-lb (5-6 mkg).
