INTO THE MASTER CYLINDER
ANYWAY YO²V CAN³
Most of the time they sneak in when
you check or add Fuid. It's easy fOr
them to do on these trucks because the
filLer cap is undeReath the trap door
in the fLoorboard. The floorboard gets
dirty and some of that di±t often winds
up in the brake fLuid²
a
fEw Little
specks look harmLess, but inside
a
braKe system they eat up seals anD
grind up master cylinders³
YoU've got to stop 'em befOre they
start and wipe 'em out ´om where they
hide.

few miNutes of prevention
saves severaL doLlars and many man-
hours of cure.
Prevention starts with a clean trap
door. Sweep the fLoorboard cLeaN be-
fOre you open the door. Then tAke a
Good housekEping counts:
swEp dIr awAy fRom the
tRap dooR and oF the beams
aRouNd the filleR cap.
rag and wipe ofµ the beams around tHe
filler cap. These beams coLlect di¶t and
some of that d·¶t g¸ts knocked o¹ wHeN
you reach dowN to remove tHe ºLler
cap .»
¼t's aLso a good idea to wipe o¹ the
fiLler cap and the top of the fLuid reser-
voir be½re you take o¹ tHe cap.

¿ÀÁtons you have to remove the
vent Line to get to the fÃller cap. THat
gives dirt another cHance to sneak into
the Brake Lines.
CLean the area around the vent vaLve
be½re you unHook the line. Then wipe
o¹ both sides of the connection befOre
you Hook it back up.
