lthough cab "creep± is included in
the troubleshooting section of TM 9-
2350-31²-20³2 (Item 2 on Page 4´2µ),
there's no mention made of it in any
PMCS fOr the M109's.
To check your howitzer fOr cab drift,
park it on a thRee´degree slope or put
enough blocks unDer one track to cant
it about ¶2 ·ils¸
Traverse toward the loW side in poWer,
then switch to manual traverse before
tHe gun tube reaches the loWest point
EyebaLL your Fire controL instruments
¹r 5 minutes or so. If the cab drifts
any at aLl, report itº Your unit mainte»
nance wilL get support on it right awayº

Commander's
Hatch Latch Catch
A
ligning the hatch latch on the com»
mander's cupola can give you a big
headache.
Better you should use your head to
apply one of the quick fixes available
to make sure the Latch holds the hatch
openÁand oÂf your noggin.
Ãere's what you can do:

Äsing Åat washers, NSN 53²0-
00Æ080-6004, shim the space between
the brackets that mount the Latch and
pin so there's only about a Ç-in gap.
More space than that lets the latch
move too ½eeLy and can keep the hatch
½om locking rightº

Èdd sleeve spacers, NSN 5365Æ
00´930´9770, under the spring on both
sides of the brackets. You may need a
DEC 88

ers in place. The spacers keep the
spring ½om losing its shape which alÊ
