Once you've made a repair or re³
pLaced a component because o± infr´
µation ¶om the test set, run the test
again to veri±y that you've soLved the
probLem²
Try to avoid extreme temperature
swings with the test set and its cab·es²
¸et them "warm up¹ during the seL±´
test in winter and shieLd the test set
¶om direct sun in summer²
The ºontroLLabLe inter±ace box
(C)
determines when it»s too hot or too
coLd fr the test set to work right²
You'LL geta message on the SETCOM:
"WARNING¼Too hot/too coLd²¹ I±
you don't get the message, heat or the
Lack o± it is not a probLem²

Never puLL the vehicLe test meter
(VTM) around by the W¾ cabLe² The
ºabLe, which connects the VTM to the
C¿B, is sturdy, but the Jl ºonneºÀor
on the VTM is not² Break the soLder
in the eLectriºaL ºonnection o± the JÁ
and you inºrease the chances o± poor
or no signaL transmission²

Store cabLe assembLy adapters
ÂmaLe end down² Otherwise, dust and
moisture can get into the ÂmaLe end²
This aLso prevents smaLL pieºes o± the
fam insert ¶om wedging between the
maLe end pins. Next time you connect
the adapter, you ºouLd get bent or broÃ
ken pins or a poor conneºtion i± the
adapters arenÄt stored right²

Take ºare that no moisture gets to
tHe VTM and C¿Ç whether they're in
storage or in use² ¿± the seaLs on your
transit ºases are bad, repLace the ºases²
Remember, too, that the SETCOM is
not waterproo±² Don't set it down
where it'LL get soaked²
