WARNING
The cannon tube must be blocked during cleaning to prevent cannon tube from returning to
battery resulting in injury to personnel.
Do not use abrasives other than crocus cloth (Item 1, table B-1) when cleaning to prevent
damage to the buffer piston rod.
7. Block cannon tube (2) while out-of-battery with a 4-inch x 4-inch x 12-inch wooden block (29)
(Item 4, table B-1). Hold wooden block in position and slowly release pump pressure until wooden
block stops cannon tube movement. Rub crocus cloth soaked with hydraulic fluid in a longitudinal
direction, along the buffer piston rod (28) to remove all discoloration (see figure B-5). Remove
wooden block.
