d. Assembly
1.
Install two mounting brackets (10) on flywheel housing (4) with eight washers (11) and screws (12).
Tighten screws (12) 70-90 lb-ft (95-122 N·m).
2.
Install new gasket (17) and cover plate (16) on flywheel housing (4) with two screws (1.5).
NOTE
Wrap male pipe threads with antiseize tape before installation.
3.
Install two pipe plugs (18) on flywheel housing (4).
e. Installation
NOTE
Perform step 1 if dowel pins were removed.
1.
Install new dowel pins (2) on engine block (1).
2.
Install new seal (3) on rear cover (14).
3.
Apply gasket sealant to threads of twelve screws (5) and mating surfaces of flywheel housing (4)
and engine block (1).
4.
Position flywheel housing (4) on engine block (1). Ensure flywheel housing (4) is properly aligned
on dowel pins (2) and seal (3) is not damaged.
5.
Install flywheel housing (4) on engine block (1) with twelve screws (5). Tighten screws (5)
45 lb-ft (61 N·m) in sequence shown.
6.
Lubricate eight screws (9) with clean engine oil.
CAUTION
Do not use timing pin to prevent engine from turning. Doing so
may cause damage to timing pin.
7.
Install crankshaft adapter (6), flexplate (7), and clamping ring (8) on crankshaft (13) with eight
screws (9). Tighten screws (9) 100 lb-ft (136 N·m) in sequence shown.
