Gently lift the gear cluster, checking that all teeth are properly meshed.

NOTE

If the countershafts do not aline with the

bearings in the rear case, either the marking

(step 3) or the assembly of the gears (steps 4,

5, 6, and 7) were not done correctly.

Assembly will not fit into housing if gears

are not properly timed.

Install the gear cluster in the rear case as shown in figure 7-109. Any countershaft can go

in either of the three holes. Be sure that ledge on bottom floating gear is located in machine surface of

each countershaft.
