(2) Install the top front shaft into the transfer case as follows:
(a) On the rear side of the case, apply silastic gasket material to the mating surface for the
top front input shaft assembly gasket. Install the gasket and apply silastic gasket material (item 29,
App B) to the outside of the gasket.
(b) Install the top front input shaft assembly over the studs into the case (fig. 8-68). The
top shaft gear must mesh with the intermediate shaft gear and the bearing must be in alinement with the
front cover.
