Lubricate pinion shaft oil seal and cover outer edge of seal body with silicone sealant

(item 24, App B). Press seal against cover shoulder with seal driver (fig. 12-28).

InstalI a new gasket and bearing cover.

Install yoke as described in paragraph 11-9m.

Pinion and Cage Assembly.

InstalI the correct shim pack. Locate thin shims on both sides for maximum sealing

Position pinion and cage assembly over studs and tap into position with soft mallet.

InstalI Iockwashers and stud nuts or capscrews. Tighten to the correct torque.

Assemble Differential Case and Ring Gear.

(Refer to para 12-7 b.)

Install Differential Case and Ring Gear.

(Refer to para 11-9c.)

Adjust Differential Bearing Preload.

(Refer to para 11-9d.)

Check Pinion-to-Ring Gear Tooth Contact.

(Refer to para 11-9f.)

Adjust Drive Gear Thrust Screw.

Differential Carrier Installation.

Clean and Inspect Drive Unit Housing. (Refer
