Remove the bearing cage. Original may have puller holes as shown in figure 12-24.

Wire shim pack together to facilitate adjustment on reassembling.

c. Disassemble the Pinion and Cage Assembly.

(1)

Tap shaft out of cage with soft mallet or press shaft from cage.

(2)

Remove outer bearing from cage.

(3)

Remove spacer or spacer combination from pinion shaft.
