Place pinion and cage assembly over carrier studs; hold flange and tighten pinion shaft
nut to 300 to 400 Ib-ft (407 to 542 N·m). The flange must be held with a suitable tool or fixture to
tighten nut (fig. 12-27).

Recheck pinion bearing preload torque.
If rotating torque is not within 5-25 lb-in.
(0.6-3 N·m) for new bearings or 5-15 lb-in. (0.6-1 N·m) for reused bearings, repeat the foregoing
procedure.

Hold yoke and remove pinion shaft nut and yoke.
