Section II. Rear Rear Axle
12-12. Description.
The rear rear axle is a single-reduction, final drive which employs a heavy-duty spiral
bevel or hypoid pinion and ring gear. The-differential and gear assembly is mounted on tapered roller
bearings. The straddle-mounted pinion has two tapered roller bearings in front of the pinion teeth which
take the forward and reverse thrust and a third bearing behind the pinion teeth to carry the radial load.
The unit has a no-spin positive locking differential, identical to the one in the model M915. (See para.
11-2 for description.)
12-13. Differential Carrier Removal.
