Pinion gear and ring gear are a matched
set and have a common number etched
on each. Before assembly, check numbers.
a. Assemble Pinion (fig. 12-18).

press the inner pinion bearing squarely and firmly against the pinion head. Use a suitable
sleeve that will bear against cone (fig. 12-19).
