Check bushing (Figure 13, Item 1) for excessive wear. If bushing is excessively worn or missing, replace slack
adjuster.

Loosen adjusting pawl (Figure 13, Item 2) from slack adjuster (Figure 13, Item 3).
10.
Tighten adjusting pawl (Figure 13, Item 2) on slack adjuster (Figure 13, Item 3) and tighten to 180 to 240 lb-in
(20 to 27 N·m).
CAUTION
Turn adjusting nut only to the left. Rotating nut in the wrong direction will damage pawl teeth.
NOTE
The torque must remain less than 25 lb-in (3 N·m). If torque value exceeds specifications,
slack adjuster is not working correctly. Replace slack adjuster (WP
0078).
