Removal.
Remove valve (para 4-85).
b.
Disassembly.
(1) Secure valve.
(2) Remove cover (1), gasket (2), spring (3), and
plunger (4). Remove insert (5).

Cleaning and Inspection.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is toxic and
flammable. Always wear protective goggles
and gloves, and use only in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and
clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors. DO
NOT use near open flame or excessive heat.
The solvent’s flash point is 100°F-138°F
(38°C-59°C). If you become dizzy while
using cleaning solvent, immediately get fresh
air and medical help. If solvent contacts eyes,
immediately wash your eyes with water and
get medical aid.
(1) Clean all metal parts in dry cleaning solvent
(item 11, Appendix E).
(2) Inspect valve for cracks. Check insert (5) and
plunger (4) for scoring and pitting.
(3) Replace any damaged parts.
d. Assembly.
(1) Install insert (5). Install plunger (4), spring
(3), gasket (2), and cover (1).
