REPLACE DRAIN CAP AND SIGHT GAUGE — Continued

INSTALLATION
1.
Install new packing (2) in fan gearbox (9).
2.
Install drain cap (1) on fan gearbox (9).
3.
Install new lockwire (3) through drain cap (1) and fan gearbox (9). Twist lockwire.
4.
Apply antiseize compound to threads of screws (5) and plug (12).

NOTE
Carrier may have a flat sight glass or a bubble sight glass. To install bubble sight glass, perform
INSTALLATION Steps 7 - 9. To install flat sight glass, perform INSTALLATION Step 9.
7.
Install new packing (11) on cover (7).
8.
Apply a thin coat of antiseize compound to threads of sight glass (10) and install on cover (7).
9.
Install new packing (8) and cover (7) on fan gearbox (9). Secure with four washers (6) and screws (5). TIGHTEN
SCREWS TO 42-48 LB-IN (4.7-5.4 N·M) TORQUE. Use torque wrench.
10. Secure four screws (5) with new lockwire (4). Double twist lockwire as shown below.
