REMOVAL – Continued

NOTE

Loosen,butdonotremovetwoofthe40boltssecuringthelockupclutchtothehousing. Twobolts

must be left until converter is properly positioned.

Converter pump must be rotated to gain access to lockup clutch bolts.

2. Remove 38 bolts of the 40 bolts securing converter lockup clutch to housing through access hole (2).

3. Place housing (3) on wooden blocks and remove two remaining lockup clutch--to--housing bolts. Attach sling and

remove lockup clutch assembly (4) from housing (3).
