REMOVAL
1.
Remove ten screws (Figure 1, Item 4) and washers (Figure 1, Item 3) from axle shaft (Figure 1, Item 2).
2.
Remove axle shaft (Figure 1, Item 2) and gasket (Figure 1, Item 1), if present, from hub (Figure 1, Item 11).
Discard gasket.
3.
Remove outer bearing locknut (Figure 1, Item 5), bearing nut washer (Figure 1, Item 6), and adjusting nut
(Figure 1, Item 7) from axle housing (Figure 1, Item 10).
4.
Remove outer bearing oil seal (Figure 1, Item 8) and outer bearing (Figure 1, Item 9) from hub
(Figure
1,
Item
11). Discard oil seal.
NOTE
Assistant will help with Step (5).
5.
Remove hub (Figure 1, Item 11) and drum (Figure 1, Item 12) from axle housing (Figure 1, Item 10). It may be
necessary to back off brake adjustment to remove drum.
