REPLACE STARTER GROUND LEADS — Continued

CLEANING

1.

Remove paint, dirt, and corrosion from electrical contact areas on hull grounds.

2.

Check leads. Replace leads that are worn or have cracked insulation.

3.

Check lead connectors. Replace cracked or damaged connectors (WP 0312 00).

INSTALLATION

1.

Place long ground lead (1) on hull mount. Secure with screw (2), two washers (3), and new locknut (4).

2.

Place short ground lead (5) on engine block. Secure with washer (6) and screw (7).

3.

Place lead (1) and lead (5) and washer (8) on starter (9). Secure with nut (10).

FOLLOW-THROUGH STEPS

1.

Close power plant front access door (see your -10).

2.

Raise trim vane(seeyour-10)

.

3.

Connect battery ground lead (WP 0294 00).

4.

Start engine to check that starter ground leads are operable. Stop/shutdown engine (see your -10).
