Never forget to put operating handle back to
stow position. If left down while closing
breechblock, it can cause serious injury to per-
sonnel. Make it a practice never to let go of
handle until you return it to stowed position.
If breechblock is not closed completely, do not
attempt firing, as it may result in death or inju-
ry to crew.
To prevent damage to follower assembly, firing
mechanism must be in firing position before
breechblock is opened manually.
a. Before firing, open and close breechblock (1) to
be sure it operates freely and smoothly and wit-
ness marks (2) aline. If breechblock or breech
ring threads (3) are burred and prevent smooth
operation, notify unit maintenance.
