engine test
CAUTION
If oil pressure drops below 40 psi, stop engine
and make the necessary repairs before finishing
the tests.
Start engine and check all gage readings. Refer to para 6-6b.
Write down all gage readings taken during each of the following tests on
report used at facility you are working.
d .
Run-In.
(a) Run engine for 1/2 hour at idle without a load.
(b) Run engine for 1/2 hour at 2000 rpm at 15 horsepower.
(c) Run engine for 1/2 hour at 2200 rpm at 64 horsepower.
(d) Run engine for 1/2 hour at 2500 rpm at 64 horsepower.
(e) Run engine for 1/2 hour at 2800 rpm at 64 horsepower.
(f) Run engine for 15 minutes at 500 rpm. Take off load a little at a
time until engine is unloaded. Stop engine.
e. Inspection After Basic Run-In.
NOTE
Bare engine has air cleaner, but does not have
pump, generator, and air compressor drive belts,
muffler, cooling fan or any other accessories not
essential for operation of the engine connected.
(1) Long run-in schedule:
NOTE
Long run-in schedule is for repaired engines in
which new bearings, piston rings or cylinder
sleeves have been put in.
