REPLACE FINAL DRIVE — Continued
CLEAN, INSPECT, AND REPAIR
1.
Replace final drive that shows cracks or leaks other than differential oil seal leak. Leaking pinion oil seal can be
replaced (
WP 0351 00
).
2.
Check mounting surfaces and internal spline for breaks, nicks, deep scratches, and burrs. Repair minor damage. Replace
final drive if damage cannot be repaired.
INSTALLATION
1 .
Check final d rive drain plu g fo r tig htn e ss.
2.
If left final drive is to be replaced, remove speedometer shaft adapter from old final drive and install it in new final
drive (
WP 0347 00
).
3.
Fill final drive with oil (
WP 0120 00
).
WARNING
The final drive is heavy and can cause back injury if handled improperly. Be sure to use a hoist
or a helper to remove final drive.
WARNING
Damaged slings can fail when loaded. Breaking slings can strike and injure personnel.
Suspended load can fall and crush personnel.
Inspect all slings before use. Do not use damaged slings. Clearly mark all damaged slings
as DAMAGED - DO NOT USE.
WARNING
Hanging loads, heavy parts, and overhead equipment can fall unexpectedly and kill or injure
you.
Stay clear of hanging loads, heavy parts, and overhead equipment. Use correct lifting devices.
Always have helper guide heavy parts and equipment.
