3 Use black dipstick (5) to obtain a small sample of battery acid.
4 Place a few drops of acid onto measuring surface (3) through opening in cover plate.

WARNING
• Battery gases can explode. Do not smoke or allow sparks or open flames near
batteries. Wear safety glasses or goggles when checking batteries. Failure to
follow this procedure could cause serious injury or death.
• When working on batteries, wear eye protection and remove all jewelry, dog tags,
and metal items to avoid electrical shock and bums.
CAUTION
When removing batteries, always disconnect ground leads first to prevent damage to
batteries.
